MY RESEARCH
I study machine learning and artificial intelligence, in particular deep learning in neural networks.

Machine learning provides powerful tools for analyzing data, including dimensionality reduction, clustering, and visualization. I am interested in leveraging the rapid advances in machine learning to help understand the microbiome.
IMPACT TO HAWAII
My lab is developing a number of artificial intelligence systems for accelerating science, conserving ecosystems, and making clean energy more efficient.
