MY RESEARCH
My research group focuses on machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). Using modern AI methods, we design specialized models and systems for improving data analysis in scientific applications. Our projects include collaborations in physics, astronomy, atmospheric sciences, biology, and the UH Cancer Center.
C-MĀIKI SYNERGY
My research group collaborates with C-MĀIKI team members to develop machine learning methods for microbiome data analysis. Current projects include deep representation learning for metagenomic data, graph neural networks for microbiomes, and modeling microbe ecology using neural differential equation models.
IMPACT TO HAWAII
My lab collaborates across the university to accelerate scientific research at UH through the use of modern AI methods. This includes projects in conservation, clean energy, and biomedical applications that could have direct impact on Hawai'i residents.
